$47,500 in Scholarships Available for Latino High School, College Students

Latino high school and college students who are permanent residents of Commerce, Montebello and the East Los Angeles and Boyle Heights areas are eligible to apply for $47,500 in scholarships available through the TELACU program for the 1987 academic year. The application deadline is April 3.

The funds are available to 67 students in amounts of $500 for students at East Los Angeles Community College and California State University, Los Angeles and California State University, Long Beach, and $1,000 to students at USC, UCLA and UC Irvine.

“The TELACU scholarship fund was created to fulfill our commitment of building a strong future for our community,” TELACU President David C. Lizarraga said. Applicants must be enrolled full-time and have an overall grade-point average of at least 2.5.
