Lomita : Lot Line Change Denied

Share

After more than an hour of listening to public debate and angry oratory, the City Council refused to reverse a Planning Commission decision that denied a proposed lot change.

Roderick Stowe of 2073 Glentree Drive, had asked the commission for a lot line adjustment that would have permitted him to add 4,367 square feet to the rear of his lot by purchasing part of a neighbor’s lot. Stowe said he wanted to protect his and his neighbors’ ocean view by purchasing the land and preventing construction on it.

Several neighbors, however, noted that Stowe had sought a permit to put an addition on his property and was prevented from doing so because his backyard was too small. They said they feared Stowe still planned the addition and that it might imperil their views.

The commission had determined that the proposal would create an irregularly shaped lot. The council voted unanimously to uphold the commission’s denial.
