Redondo Beach : Library Week Approved
The City Council this week approved a proposal by the Redondo Beach Library to celebrate National Library Week, April 5 to 11, with a membership drive, book sale and book-return amnesty.
Marilyn Hurd, the library’s acting director, said previous sales of excess donated books have raised an average of $1,000 for purchase of equipment and materials and expansion of library programs. Amnesty programs have been successfully used by Los Angeles County and other areas to encourage the return of overdue and lost materials by eliminating fines, Hurd said.
