Canada Icebreaker Trying to Free Stuck Soviet Ship

ST. JOHN'S, Canada —
A coast guard icebreaker was expected to continue efforts Wednesday to free a Soviet factory-freezer trawler, the Murman Seld, stuck in ice off southern Newfoundland.
The Franklin, one of the Canadian coast guard’s most powerful icebreakers, freed three other vessels Tuesday from heavily packed ice off the entrance to St. John’s harbor.
