Local News in Brief : Phone Service to 600 Severed in Northridge
Telephone service was expected to be restored by 7 a.m. today to an estimated 600 customers in Northridge and Reseda, Pacific Bell reported.
About 90% of the affected customers were residential users, mostly in Northridge, a company spokeswoman said.
The cause of the interruption in service, which was first reported about 12:30 p.m., was thought to be a damaged underground cable, spokeswoman Charlene Baldwin said.
Workers were excavating a cable at the suspected source, a construction site at Reseda Boulevard and Chase Street, Baldwin said.
