Astro Thon Wants Psychiatric Aid
Shortstop Dickie Thon of the Houston Astros has asked for psychiatric assistance, casting doubt on his future with the team, a club spokesman said.
“Plans are being made in Houston to satisfy his request,” said Chuck Pool of the Astros at the team’s spring training camp at Kissimmee, Fla. “In view of this, the club does not see Thon in its training plans for the opening of the season.”
Thon’s agent, Tom Reich, said arrangements are being made for Thon to see a specialist to help him with the psychological scars left from a beaning incident in 1984 that almost ended his career.
