The Region : Woman Sentenced for Car Bombings

Share

A Dana Point woman was sentenced in Los Angeles to seven years in federal prison on her guilty plea to racketeering and conspiracy charges in firebombing the cars of two teachers she fired from her chain of preparatory schools. U.S. District Judge Alicemarie Stotler imposed the sentence on Elizabeth Leta Hamilton, who ran the California Learning Centers with her roommate, Charlotte Wyckoff. Both admitted hiring Alabama mercenary Franklin Camper and four associates to intimidate several teachers who had complained to state agencies about their firings and conditions at the schools. Wyckoff still faces sentencing. Camper and two of associates are in their second trial. The first jury that heard their case deadlocked 11 to 1 for conviction in November.
