Trustees of Tustin Unified School District will formally honor Foothill High School’s Academic Decathlon team at their meeting Monday.

Foothill High, which has been the county Academic Decathlon champion for the past three years, this week finished fourth in the statewide competition.

The state winner this year was Marshall High School of Los Angeles. Palo Alto High was second, and Beverly Hills High was third.

“The board is very proud of Foothill High’s accomplishment,” said Mark Eliot, communications specialist for the school district.

“The team made a very good showing, and it takes a lot of work by the students and the adviser, Larry Minne, to make this possible. Many, many hours of after-school work go into this.”
