DETROIT — The Kings continue their Eastern road swing with a game tonight against the Detroit Red Wings, a team the Kings have beaten twice this season.
The Kings (28-37-8) are 2-2 on this trip, and Coach Mike Murphy has gone from being pleased to angry with his team’s effort.
After soundly beating the Washington Capitals and Philadelphia Flyers, the Kings lost to the Boston Bruins and Hartford Whalers.
The Red Wings (33-32-10) have been idle since losing to the Buffalo Sabres Sunday night. Detroit is in first place in the Norris Division. The Kings have beaten the Red Wings at home, 4-3, and at Detroit, 5-4.
