GHOST AID
Patrick Goldstein’s notion that the members of Ghost are “cashing in” on the AIDS crisis with the new dance record “Sex in the ‘80s” is incorrect (Pop Eye, March 8).
“Sex in the ‘80s” was produced out of the shallow pockets of a group of artists who feel deeply that our society needs to do more toward educating the public about AIDS, and caring for those who have already fallen victim. We gave freely of our time and resources, going out on a financial limb, and have dedicated important profits toward AIDS support and research.
Contrast our actions with radio music directors, who despite strong club reaction, refuse to put this song on the air due to a fear of reshaping the boundaries of formula radio.
