Rookie Carelli Wins Saugus NASCAR Race
Rick Carelli of Denver held off a late rally by Sepulveda’s Roman Calczynski to win the opening race of the NASCAR Southwest Tour on Saturday night at Saugus Speedway.
Carelli, who led the entire race in his Chevrolet Grand American stock car, drove the final lap unchallenged after Calczynski and Dan Press collided, forcing Calczynski to spin out in turn No. 4 of the next-to-last lap.
