“Top Gun” topped both sales and rentals on Billboard magazine’s videocassette charts this week but look for coming rental challenges from “Stand By Me,” which debuted at No. 8. “Aliens” remains a strong contender although it was dethroned from its No. 1 spot by “Gun.” “Heartburn” (No. 9), starring Jack Nicholson and Meryl Streep, and Kurt Russell in “Big Trouble in Little China” (No. 10), both ho-hum at box office, show the power of their stars in the rental market. Other vid charts: “Sleeping Beauty” is still the reigning kidvid cassette. “Bon Jovi,” starring the red-hot heavy metal band, is the best-selling music cassette.
