Laguna Niguel : 2 Killed, 1 Injured in Niguel Road Crash
Two men died and a third was seriously injured early Friday when a South County motorist lost control of his car in the rain and collided with another auto, authorities said.
Stephen L. Holland, 24, of South Laguna died at Mission Community Hospital at 7:42 a.m Friday, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Dao Cao), 23, of Santa Ana was pronounced dead at the scene after the 1:55 a.m. accident, according to CHP spokesman Ken Daily of the San Juan Capistrano office. Obaid Amanullah), 27, of Garden Grove was in the intensive care unit of Mission Community Hospital with numerous head and body injuries, a spokeswoman said.
Officers said that Holland was driving north on Niguel Road just north of Augusta Drive at an unknown speed when he lost control of his car and swerved into another lane. He broadsided a car being driven by Amanullah, who was heading south on Niguel Road at about 45 m.p.h., a report by investigating CHP Officer Pete Hatcher said.
Cao was a passenger in the car driven by Amanullah.
Holland’s 1971 Datsun Z car was nearly torn in two, Daily said. Amanullah’s 1980 Toyota had major damage to the front and right side.
Authorities said the rain-slickpavement apparently played a role in the accident.
