A 22-month-old boy who was rescued from a 2-foot-deep fountain at Mission San Juan Capistrano was removed from intensive care Sunday, a Western Medical Center spokeswoman said.

Soren D. Baird was transferred to the Santa Ana hospital’s pediatrics ward, a spokeswoman said.

The boy had been pulled from the fountain Friday and given mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.

The boy had become separated from his parents, Forest and Joy Baird, visitors from Spokane, Wash., at the time of the incident.
