FIRST 2 MUSIC SCHOLARSHIPS ANNOUNCED

Share

A voice student from Huntington Beach and an Anaheim percussionist are the first two recipients of music scholarships made possible by a $100,000 bequest from the late Sharlet E. Wolford’s estate--the largest gift ever received by the Cal State Fullerton music department.

University President Jewel Plummer Cobb, in announcing the gift last week, said the endowment fund “will allow our nationally accredited music department to attract more students who possess the talent to excel at a four-year university but who do not necessarily have all of the financial resources.”

Wolford, a Fullerton resident, died in 1983 at the age of 83. The one-year music scholarships cover at least tuition and fees and can be renewed for a second year provided the students maintain a B average.
