Agoura Man Held in Drug-Lab Raid
Los Angeles police arrested an Agoura man Monday on suspicion of operating a clandestine drug laboratory and seized $285,700 worth of methamphetamine, a police spokesman said.
James Grant, 31, was arrested about 8 a.m. at his Cresthill Drive home, where police seized six pounds of methamphetamine, 15 grams of amphetamine, $4,900 in cash and “sophisticated counter-surveillance equipment,” which included a police scanner, the spokesman said. Also confiscated were two computers, two mobile phones, a stun gun and two luxury autos.
Police called Grant a major methamphetamine dealer who had been selling $400,000 worth of the drug, also called “speed,” each week.
Grant was held at the Ventura County Sheriff’s East Valley Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail on suspicion of possessing methamphetamine for sale, police said. He was scheduled to be arraigned in Ventura Municipal Court on Wednesday.
