Beam Blocks Freeway: Traffic was halted for one hour but no one was injured Monday when a steel beam fell across four lanes of the San Diego Freeway, a California Highway Patrol spokesman said. Officer Paul Caldwell said a truck grazed the underside of the Irvine Center Drive overpass, which is under construction, and caused the beam to fall from the bridge at 10:41 a.m. Traffic was diverted temporarily to the Santa Ana Freeway.
