Teledyne Ryan Gets Contract for Drones

Teledyne Ryan Aeronautical received a $32.3-million contract from the U.S. Air Force to build 80 high-performance jet targets, or drones, called Firebees. Work on the contract will begin this summer with deliveries to be completed by the end of 1989, a TDA spokesman said. The aeronautical company, which employs 2,200 in San Diego, anticipates no new hiring as a result of the contract.
