Animal rights activists, one of them dressed as the Easter bunny, raided a poultry farm before dawn Friday, spray-painted slogans on walls and “liberated” 40 hens to protest “cruel and abusive” treatment of the chickens, a spokesman for Farm Sanctuary, an animal welfare group in Wilmington, Del., said.

State police said they were treating the raid at Wolfe Poultry Farm Inc. as a burglary. In addition to the missing chickens, 45 dozen eggs were reported stolen, police said.
