Producer-director George Lucas’ special-effects house, Industrial Light & Magic, has been beamed on board the coming Paramount TV series, “Star Trek: The New Generation,” say sources involved in the production. Work has begun on the new starship (USS Enterprise (NCC 1701-D, that is)) and sources say ILM may wind up doing the opening title sequence. Further plans are to be firmed up by this weekend. The syndicated series--which takes place in the early 24th Century and follows an all-new Enterprise crew on their voyages of discovery--is slated for an early June start date. The two-hour premiere is scheduled to be aired Oct. 3 or 4.
