Two Buena Park sisters hit by a suspected drunk driver as they walked to school were released from UCI Medical Center on Wednesday, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Rieko Nakano, 10, and Maiko Nakano, 12, were hit by the car on 9th Street in Buena Park at 8:50 a.m. Tuesday and thrown 25 feet, police said.
One of the girls suffered leg injuries, but both children were well enough to leave the hospital in Orange by Wednesday afternoon, the hospital spokeswomen said.
The driver, Alfonso Kraft Valadez, 53, of Buena Park, was arrested on suspicion of felony drunk driving. He is scheduled to be arraigned today in North County Municipal Court in Fullerton, Officer Terry Branum said.
Branum said Valadez was too drunk to safely take a sobriety test at the accident scene and had alcohol in his car.
