A former professional basketball player whose career led him to stardom in Israel was sentenced in New York to 10 years in jail on a heroin smuggling conviction.
Aulcie Perry, 36, was found guilty in February of three counts of conspiring to import and sell $1.8 million worth of heroin in 1985. Perry, who played for the Virginia Squires of the American Basketball Assn. in 1974-75, was also fined $45,000. He faced 20 years on the charges.
Perry’s cousin, Kenneth Johnson, 29, was sentenced to a six-year term earlier this month after pleading guilty in February.
