Fashion Designer Willi Smith Died of AIDS
Fashion designer Willi Smith died from the complications of AIDS, his attorney said Friday.
A spokeswoman for Mt. Sinai Medical Center in New York City said when Smith, 39, died April 17 that he had died of pneumonia complicated by shigella, a parasitic disease. A spokesman for Smith’s internationally famous design firm, WilliWear Ltd., said Smith contracted the disease on a trip to India.
But lawyer Edward Hayes said in New York that a blood test shortly before the designer’s death revealed the presence of the AIDS virus.
