It is precisely because the higher animals, especially the vertebrates, are not radically different creatures from human beings that we are able to use their bodies for the betterment of humanity. How would Carlsen like to live in a world without insulin, vaccines, and antibiotics?

I agree that there is no reason to inflict unnecessary suffering on any living being, but without animal experimentation progress in medicine would almost stop.
