Three more California counties made it clear that they do not want paroled rapist-mutilator Lawrence Singleton, leaving him still without a home. State Department of Corrections officials said they are considering paroling Singleton to a mental hospital, but psychologists found that he did not meet the criteria for such confinement. Singleton, 59, was paroled from prison after serving slightly more than eight years for raping a 15-year-old girl and hacking off her forearms. Supervisors of Alameda, Napa and Mendocino counties voted to do whatever necessary to keep Singleton out. San Francisco, Contra Costa and San Diego counties already have gone to court to prevent his being paroled there.
