Lasodyne Corp. Agrees to Supply Catalogue System

Lasodyne Corp. has signed a $15-million, three-year contract to supply a high-tech cataloguing system to a major national supplier of automotive dealership computer services, the company said.

The Lasodyne system combines a new hardware configuration with special software that has been in development for more than two years. The system stores car part identification numbers and is used to retrieve high resolution images of automobiles and car parts on the computer screen, said Steve McBride, president of the Tustin-based company.

The system will be marketed and distributed through Illinois-based ADP Dealer Services Division, where McBride said he had been a director of marketing for 11 years.

Though the technology is not new, “this is the first application (of this type) going out the door,” McBride said, adding that the Lasodyne system was designed to be compatible with ADP computers already in place.

Incorporated in August, privately-held Lasodyne was formed by the merger of two computer-related firms, one based in Orange County and the other in San Francisco. Each of the companies was about five years old at the time of the merger.
