TWA forecast record earnings this year.

Trans World Airlines Chairman Carl C. Icahn said that strong international traffic will help the airline garner the record earnings. Icahn said this year’s earnings are expected to significantly exceed the previous record of $83.6 million earned by the airline in 1965. TWA said Icahn was referring to the earnings of the airline only. Parent company earnings were higher than the $83.6 million in some years because TWA then owned Hilton International and other subsidiaries since sold.
