A second teen-ager was convicted in the murder of Junko Owaki, 18, a Japanese exchange student who was beaten, robbed and stabbed more than 100 times in Fremont early last year. Alameda County Superior Court jurors found Corey Glassman, 17, guilty of first-degree murder and robbery after only 2 1/2 hours of deliberation. Gina Florio, 17, was found guilty of first-degree murder in a non-jury trial in March. The prosecution said Glassman and Florio met Owaki at a bus stop, where she told them she had $2,200 for car repairs. A third defendant, Kevin McGuffy, 22, faces trial as an alleged accessory. “Junko (Owaki) loved America, its democracy and its freedom,” the victim’s mother said after the verdict. “The jury responded to her love through the sound verdict.”
