Two Former Aztecs Sign With the Chargers

Two former San Diego State stars, safety Steve Lauter and defensive tackle Duane Pettit, have signed with the Chargers as free agents and have begun workouts for the team’s mini-camp later this month.

Last season Lauter, 6-feet 2-inches and 205 pounds, was a first-team All-Western Athletic Conference selection and Pettit, 6-4 and 250, had 41 tackles. Also signing was Emil Slovacek (6-2, 300) of Stephen F. Austin.
