USC vs. UCLA: Where Is the Rivalry Now?

Share

Last Saturday, I was a spectator as UCLA demolished USC in track and field in the afternoon, and then swept past the Trojans to win the NCAA volleyball championship that same evening.

So far this (academic) year, the Bruins have crushed USC in football, beaten them twice in basketball, swept three games (so far) in baseball, defeated them on all six other occasions they competed in volleyball, in addition to the above mentioned blowout in track. Additionally, UCLA is a national power in soccer and gymnastics, sports in which USC does not even compete.

I remember when there was quite a traditional rivalry here even though my 7-year-old son cannot. I must admit that the USC women’s athletic department has maintained the Trojans’ past tradition of excellence.
