Record 5,696 Entries for U.S. Open Golf

FAR HILLS, N.J. —
The United States Golf Assn. has accepted a record 5,696 entries for the 1987 U.S. Open Championship.
The figure surpasses the Open record set last year, when 5,410 entries were accepted. The 5,696 also is a record for all USGA events.
The 1987 Open will be played June 18-21 at the Olympic Club in San Francisco.
