Toronto’s new domed stadium will be called the Sky Dome. A contest to name the dome received more than 150,000 entries with 13,000 different names suggested. About 300 people came up with Sky Dome.

The stadium, with Canada’s first retractable roof, is expected to be ready by the 1989 major league baseball season. It will be home to the American League’s Blue Jays and the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League.
