Tustin : Quarrel Ends in Slaying of Marine, Police Say

A 20-year-old Marine who reportedly was threatening his girlfriend during an argument in her apartment was stabbed once in the chest and died Monday night, police reported.

The girlfriend, identified as Jamasa J. Williamson, 23, was arrested on suspicion of murder and booked into Orange County Jail.

“From what we can gather they were just sort of arguing over who-knows-what. . . , “ Detective Jim Hein said.

Police identified the victim as Elliott D. Cephas, from Lincoln, Del., who lived on base at the Marine Corps Air Station in Tustin.

Investigators said another person was in the apartment during the attack but may not have witnessed the actual stabbing.

The Marine was stabbed once with a nine-inch butcher knife that passed between his ribs and pierced his heart, police said.

He was taken to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana, where he was declared dead at 9:37 p.m., about 1 1/2 hours after the attack.
