Share

Construction has been completed on the Balsam Meadow Dam, a $321-million hydro-electric project in Shaver Lake that will help supply electricity to 3.4 million Southern California Edison customers in Central and Southern California.

The 200-megawatt project, nestled in the Sierra Nevadas about 55 miles northeast of Fresno, will come on line by the end of the year. Construction began in November, 1983.

The project will be owned and operated by Southern California Edison. It was developed through a joint venture of Pleasanton-based Dillingham Construction N. A. Inc. and San Francisco-based Guy F. Atkinson Co.
