ROCKVILLE, Md. —
Part of a hotel under construction collapsed today, injuring five workers, two of them seriously, who “rode down” a pile of concrete to the ground, authorities said.
The men were on the upper floors pouring concrete when the balcony area of a third floor collapsed onto the second floor balcony, causing the concrete mass to crumble to the ground. Authorities said the men “rode down” on top of the concrete, preventing them from becoming trapped.
