Pomona : Felvey Hearing Delayed

Share

A public meeting on developer H. Thomas Felvey’s past financial problems has been delayed until 8 p.m. on June 8 by the City Council.

The council had asked Felvey, developer of the World Trade Center, to appear before it this week, but Felvey replied with a letter stating that the architects, builders, financial partners and others involved in the proposed $96-million World Trade Center were unavailable. He said they would be available June 8.

Councilwoman Nell Soto said Felvey misunderstood if he thought the council wanted another presentation or, as she called it, a “dog and pony show” on the World Trade Center. She said she supports the trade center project, but wants Felvey to answer questions raised by an article in The Times about unpaid bills and lawsuits accumulated by Felvey and his corporations over the past decade. She said the disclosures amount to “some very serious allegations” that require a public response.

The council also delayed until June 8 a hearing on the sale of land for the project. The Redevelopment Agency owns the 4.5-acre site across from City Hall where Felvey and his associates plan to build the World Trade Center, including a large hotel.
