Tulare County Supervisor Ben Webb has resigned as board chairman because he faces three trials over his involvement in a street improvement project and land sale at Porterville. Webb said he would turn over the chairman’s duties to the vice chairman. Webb will remain a supervisor. His first trial starts June 29 with prosecutors trying to remove him as a supervisor over allegations of wrongdoing in office. The second Superior Court trial, scheduled to begin July 1, involves eight felony counts charging that Webb misappropriated public funds. He goes on trial in Municipal Court July 29 on misdemeanor charges of having a conflict of interest regarding property in Porterville.
