Would you like to live dangerously, and yet, also be very fashionable? If so, we have just the thing for you: it’s a bracelet called “The Weapon”--and you don’t have to take a self-defense class to wear it.

This silver-plated, $25 bracelet is both frightening and fascinating. “They look almost like little ninja warrior weapons,” says Mary Owens, an department manager at the Esprit store in Los Angeles. “They’re very large, very heavy--with points coming out of them. Some have squared off corners, some have three different points.”

They also have a scratched-up, damaged look which confuses some customers. “Some people have tried to return them because they have all these nicks in them. They thought theirs was damaged--but I told them, ‘No--that’s the look,’ ” explains Esprit cashier Steve Billington.

The bracelet’s background is just as fascinating as its look--it’s crafted by someone who should know something about weapons, as well as fashion. Designer Glen Yank is a Hell’s Angel.

“We bought cross earrings from him last year and this was in his new line,” says Owens. “People ask questions all about this bracelet. They’re very intrigued, and when you tell them that a Hell’s Angel made it, then people say, ‘Wow.’ ”

But Owens doesn’t think you need restrict the bracelets to your Hell’s Angel and ninja warrior outfits. “They go well with the whites, or jewel tones, like turquoise, or black. And, of course, they go well with metallic shoes,” she says.
