A Northern California bus driver who manacled a youth for breaking a bus window four months ago was suspended by the Alameda Contra Costa Transit District on a charge of inciting his passengers to “verbally attack” a transit district supervisor. The supervisor had stopped the bus because the driver was five minutes ahead of schedule. Mike Movsessian said the charge against him is part of a campaign by the transit district to get rid of him after the handcuffing incident. Movsessian grabbed the 14-year-old boy for breaking the bus window and held him until police arrived. The driver was not punished because dozens of passengers defended his action. The boy’s family paid for the broken window and last week the Oakland-based Citizens for Law and Order commended Movsessian for detaining the boy.
