ORANGE COUNTY’S SHARE OF PARK FUNDS
Orange County projects could get more than $35 million from the proposed Wildlife, Coastal and Parkland Conservation Act of 1988: $7 million to the state for expansion and possible completion of the Chino Hills State Park that stretches from eastern Orange County into San Bernardino and Riverside counties.
$4 million to the City of Irvine toward purchase of an corridor planned along each side of Jeffrey Road, between Santa Ana and San Diego freeways.
$10 million to the City of Laguna Beach toward completion of the Laguna Beach Greenbelt, a collection of state, county and city parks and open space that will ring the city.
$4 million to the county toward purchase of the Tecate Cypress forest near Coal Canyon, south of the Riverside Freeway.
$1.5 million to the Coastal Conservancy for expansion of the Bolsa Chica Linear Park or for the restoration, enhancement or expansion of the Bolsa Chica wetlands not otherwise required of the Signal Landmark Co., which plans to develop the area.
About $10 million to the county and various cities, on a per capita basis, for acquisition, development, rehabilitation or restoration of parks, beaches, wildlife habitat and natural lands.
