An argument that began when a woman rode a bicycle across a freshly poured concrete sidewalk at a San Jose church left one man dead and another in critical condition. Police said Etualie Laufasa, 48, was shot fatally with an Uzi submachine gun and Tino Matuu was wounded outside the Most Holy Trinity Church. Police said the two men, both parishioners and members of the Samoan choir, argued with Nannette Canillas when she bicycled across the concrete they were pouring. The woman’s husband, Emiliano Canillas, reportedly confronted the men and at least one punch was thrown. Police later arrested the woman’s brother, Jonathan T. Tolentino, 29, on suspicion of murder and assault with a deadly weapon.
