In the latest Gallup Poll, 77% favor and 20% oppose provisions of the Kennedy-Hawkins bill recently introduced in Congress that would gradually increase the minimum wage from the present $3.35 an hour to $4.65 an hour by 1990. Large majorities in all population groups favor the proposal, with approval outweighing disapproval by better than 5 to 1 among women, blacks, Democrats, members of labor-union and blue-collar households, young adults and the less-well educated and less affluent.
