Former OCC Pitcher Signs With Yankees
Pitcher Jay Makemson, who played at Orange Coast College in 1986 before transferring to Cerritos this season, was signed as a free agent by the New York Yankees Friday. Makemson, a right-hander, was assigned to Oneonta of the New York-Penn Rookie League.
Makemson, who was 2-2 for OCC in 1986 working mostly in relief, was drafted by the Yankees last June. He was 8-0 this season as a starter for Cerritos, which won the state title.
