Lorimar Names Gottlieb CEO of Video Unit

Jerry Gottlieb was named chief executive of Lorimar Telepictures’ home video unit, the Culver City-based entertainment company announced.

Gottlieb had been running the operation since February, when three of its top officers, including the unit’s founder, Stuart G. Karl, resigned amid an internal conflict-of-interest probe over awarding of outside contracts.

“Jerry stepped in during a crucial phase in Lorimar Home Video’s evolution,” said the parent company’s chairman and chief executive, Merv Adelson. “It soon became apparent that he was the perfect candidate to continue the innovative style that is the foundation of Lorimar Home Video.”

Gottlieb will relinquish his post of senior vice president of the parent company to devote full time to the home video job. He joined Lorimar Telepictures in 1985 to head its business and legal affairs operations.
