San Francisco health officials report a 10% increase in the number of new AIDS cases in the city for May. The Department of Health said there were 117 new cases of acquired immune deficiency syndrome reported last month, an increase of 11 cases over April. There were 53 deaths in May, three fewer than the toll for April. Health officials said homosexual and bisexual men continued to account for 97% of the AIDS cases in San Francisco, where 3,307 cases and 1,969 deaths have been reported from AIDS-related diseases since 1981.
