Danes Reject Ban on Smoking

COPENHAGEN —
The Danish Parliament voted today against imposing a ban on smoking in government work places after a heated debate over public health and personal freedom.
A bill to bar tobacco from public offices, including Parliament and the courts, was defeated, 81 to 67. “Shall we have a ban on eating pork? We know it can make you fat,” one speaker commented.
