Navratilova, Graf Reach Finals
Top-seeded Martina Navratilova and second-seeded Steffi Graf advanced to the women’s final at the French Open today, Navratilova easily ousting defending champion Chris Evert and Graf narrowly escaping against Gabriela Sabatini.
Navratilova, who is seeking her first tournament victory of the season, took just over an hour to beat Evert, 6-2, 6-2. Graf became the youngest French Open women’s finalist with a 6-4, 4-6, 7-5 victory over Sabatini, who served for the match at 5-4 of the third set in a meeting of 17-year-olds.
