Santa Monica : Parking Study for College

Share

In an ongoing effort to help solve Santa Monica College’s parking problem, college trustees have agreed to ask the city of Santa Monica to analyze the feasibility of providing off-site parking with a shuttle service to the campus at 1900 Pico Blvd.

Residents have urged the college to reduce student parking on campus by providing a park-and-ride system, but previous informal reports have indicated that no alternate parking sites are available in Santa Monica, officials said.

The board of trustees on Monday also agreed to ask the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District whether it might temporarily share district facilities for college athletic activities during the proposed construction of a parking structure under the college’s softball field.

The college estimates it has a shortage of 1,360 parking spaces in the daytime and 2,120 at night.
