The Cowboys overcame a 2-0 deficit with its six-run outburst against Stanford’s Jack McDowell (12-5), No. 1 draft choice of the Chicago White Sox. Adam Smith’s two-run single tied the score and Benny Castillo’s run-scoring single put the Cowboys ahead, 3-2.
Smith scored on McDowell’s wild pitch, Brad Beanblossom hit a run-scoring triple and scored on Anthony Blackmon’s sacrifice fly.
