San Diego
The America’s Cup Task Force will launch a petition drive Monday to persuade the America’s Cup Site Selection Committee that San Diego is the best defense site, officials said.
Supporters of San Diego as the host of the 1990-1991 America’s Cup races are being asked to sign petitions at all Great American First Savings Bank, Home Federal and Imperial Savings offices, as well as at some Jack in the Box restaurants, 7-Eleven stores, and local radio and television stations.
“Tell the America’s Cup Site Selection Committee the Cup Stops Here,” the petition campaign urges.
The petitions will be collected July 1 and the results will be announced on Independence Day, officials said. The task force has set a goal of 100,000 signatures during the three-week petition drive.
